MyGold Pro: automated gold trading on MT4
A custom MetaTrader 4 Expert Advisor for XAUUSD with volatility-adaptive entries, trend and session filters, and a four-layer risk engine.
This project was delivered by JN. Karthik individually in 2025, before Vianmax Techno Ventures was incorporated. It is presented here as part of the founder's engineering record.
Disciplined execution in a fast market.
Mr. Kumaran, a Dubai-based trader specialising in gold (XAUUSD), wanted to move from a semi-manual approach to fully automated execution of his scalping strategy on MetaTrader 4. The aim was consistent, rule-based trading with risk controls that act without hesitation.
A parametric Expert Advisor with risk built in.
JN. Karthik, Vianmax's founder, developed MyGold Pro, a bespoke Expert Advisor written in MQL4 and designed for short timeframes during the most liquid sessions for gold.
- Volatility-adaptive entriesEntry conditions adjust to ATR readings, pausing in abnormally thin or spiking conditions.
- Trend filterA higher-timeframe bias filter prevents counter-trend entries.
- News and session filtersConfigurable blackout windows around high-impact events, and trading restricted to chosen sessions.
- Fully parametricLot mode, risk per trade, spread limits, targets and session windows are all configurable from MT4's inputs, with no code changes.
Four independent layers of protection.
- Hard stop-lossEvery order enters with a defined stop.
- Trailing stopGains are protected as price moves in favour.
- Dynamic position sizingSize is calculated from current equity on each order to keep risk per trade consistent.
- Daily loss circuit-breakerIf daily losses reach the configured threshold, all positions are closed and trading halts until the next session.
Tested before it traded.
The EA was backtested on historical XAUUSD tick data in the MT4 Strategy Tester and forward-tested on a demo account before handover. After live deployment, the client commissioned a second version.
